Successful registration of IGL Gorakhpur plant CDM project by UNFCCC

The biomass based cogeneration project activity taken up by India Glycols Limited at its Gorakhpur, U.P. plant is successfully registered under Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) having equivalent 110157 CERs (Certified Emission Reduction) per annum for ten year fixed crediting period 16/12/2010 to 15/12/2020.

Under the Clean Development Mechanism emission reduction (or emission removal) projects in developing countries can earn Certified Emission Reduction credits. These saleable credits can be used by industrialised countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol.
